Weed Control in the Landscape
If you are tired of pulling weeds and grasses out of you landscape there is some help available. Three products that work well are
Preen
,
Snap Shot
, and
Pendulum
. All of these products are pre-emergence control that is they kill the plant as the seed germinates.
Preen
Of these products Preen is available at almost all garden centers. You apply it like fertilizer and water it in. You need to have the soil free of weeds before you apply. When I am putting new bark in, I will apply Preen or Snap Shot first and then apply the new bark. The other two products, Snap Shot and Pendulum work the same way. These products you will have to purchase at Wilbur Ellis.
Snap Shot
Snap Shot is the same thing as Preen but in a higher concentration, so to me it works a whole lot better. Preen lasts about 3 weeks and Snap Shot last 6- 8 weeks.
Pendulum
The third product is Pendulum. I use Pendulum with Round-Up. This is a good way if you have weeds growing now and do not want weeds coming back. The Round-Up kills the exhisting weeds and the Pendulum prevents any new weeds for germinating.
I have found that these products have saved me many hours of pulling weeds and they do not hurt the landscape plants. You can also plant new plants into the soil after you have treated it, but you will not be able to grow any plants from seed in the soil you have treated.
I hope these tips will help you enjoy more hours of free time for enjoying that beautiful lawn and that weed free landscape. This will give you more time for fishing from that new fishing boat you purchased at Valley Tractor.
